Home Page

How does the home page work?
It shows all the places that have been praized or razed within the community. Places are ranked by percentage, with the highest ranking going to the highest percentage. If you want to see only places in a specific city, enter a city name in the "city" box and press find. You'll find the top places for that specific city.
I've praized (or razed) a place but it does not appear on the home page. Is your site broken?
no, it takes a few minutes for our search engine to index the new praized place and show it in the home page.

Search

How does the Praized search work?
after you enter one or multiple keywords and/or place name in the "look for" search box and a city in the "where" box, you click on find button. It will return all places that matched on tags and place names in that specific city.
What can I find in your search engine?
our database includes more than 17 million North American places of all types (restaurants, bars, lawyers but also architects, shopping centers and every other types of business categories you usually find in business directories. If you don't find what you're looking for, feel free to add a place in our database.
How does the "Search for" search box work?
You can enter any types of categories, tags, keywords, brands/services or place names in the "Search for" search box. A query will search in both place names and tags.
my search query only returns results with place name matches. Is tag search broken?
this means no place has been tagged with that keyword. Feel free to start tagging your favorite places.
How does the "city" box works?
input any North American city names. In the case of multiple cities with the same name, our search engine will combine all cities with the same name in North America. If you want one specific city (ex: Springfield in Massachusetts), make sure you enter the name of the state or province in your search query, (ex: Springfield, ma). You can also do a state/province search by entering only a comma followed by the state name in the search box (ex: , ma will return all results from Massachusetts)
How do I search by tags?
Find a place that already has the tag you want to search on, then click on the underlined tag. It will search only on that tag.
Can I search by postal code, street name or country?
not currently but it's coming soon!
Can I search in comments?
not currently but it's coming soon!
Can I search by phone number?
not at this moment.
I've praized (or razed) a place but it does not appear at the right spot in the search results. Is your site broken?
no, it takes a few minutes for our search engine to index the new praized place and show it at the appropriate place in the search results.

Ranking

How does ranking work?
Place that have been praized appear first, with the highest ranking going to the highest percentage. We will then show all places with no praizes in random order.

Voting

How do I start voting?
you need to create an account with praized. After, you can find places that you want to praize or raize and start voting. You don't need to leave a comment after voting.
Can I vote more than once?
You cannot vote more than once in the same direction for the same place, but you can change your mind and vote a place up after voting it down (and vice-versa).

Commenting

How do I start commenting?
you need to create an account with praized. After, you can find places that you want to comment on and leave some comments. You don't need to vote to leave a comment.
Can I comment more than once?
yes, if you want to add new comments or forgot to mention something, go ahead. But make sure you don't duplicate your previous comment.
Can I flag a comment that's offensive, spammy or completely wrong?
yes, write to help@praized.com and we'll try to help you.

Tagging

How do I start tagging?
you need to create an account with praized. After, you can find places that you want to tag and add them by clicking "add tags". You don't need to vote or comment to add a new tag.
Can I remove or change a tag?
Not at this moment. We suggest you add new tags to make that place more relevant.
Can I flag a tag that's offensive, spammy or completely wrong?
yes, write to help@praized.com and we'll try to help you.

Adding a Place

I can't find the place I'm looking for. Can I add a place?
Yes, visit this “Add a place” page. You first need to search to make sure the place is not already in our database. If it's not, you will be prompted to add it by entering all required information.

Editing a Place

Can I edit a place in your database?
no, not at this moment, but soon! If you think the place's name or address should be modified (the place has moved, changed names, closed etc.) write to help@praized.com and we'll try to help you.

Removing a Place

Can I remove a place in your database?
no, but if you think it should be removed (the place has closed, burned down, etc.) write to help@praized.com and we'll try to help you.
